5 Excellent Free-to-Play Games
Updated: Feb 1
Low on cash or looking for a new game without having to pay a fortune for something you might not like? With so many games being released with very little content and asking you to pay hefty amounts, it's no wonder you don't have the money to fork over for them. There is a solution, however, and it's in the form of quality free-to-play games that offer much more for absolutely free!
If being a ninja and playing with a vast array of weaponry is your thing, this is your game. You have many options in terms of Warframes, the armor suit you use, and each one has it's own set own unique abilities to cater to your playstyle. The game is a third-person shooter that's got tons of action, freerunning, and stealth elements but leaves it up to you to decide which way you want to play it.
The story can be bizarre at the best of times and seen as a device only to make sense of what is going on. But with the game having new content being added regularly with some of the older stuff even being re-imagined and improved upon, it's clear that the developers care for this game. Something that the community praises this game for. Definitely worth a try for anyone looking for action and something to spend a lot of time on.

Neverwinter is a fun alternative to other more popular MMOs. The game has some great combat that feels fluid and fast-paced but still challenging at a high level. With simplicity in mind but having all the usual things that grant you a full MMO experience, this game delivers. That is if the general lack of polish in the game doesn't bother you.
The game sports a wide variety of tasks for you to undertake, such as campaigns, which are quest lines in zones or events that give you the chance to unlock cool mounts and gear. The massive amount of content and varying difficulty is what makes up for the lack of a proper endgame. However, getting to that point in the game will take a significant amount of time, which is why I would recommend giving it a try.
Scaled zones mean you're able to experience older content at higher levels
3. Path of Exile
Path of Exile, set in a dark universe where humanity is on the brink of destruction, and the only hope it has are the exiles who resist the evil forces corrupting the world. The gameplay is what you'd expect from an action role-playing game in the same vein as the Diablo series, simple but enjoyable. The difference is the in-depth character building that allows for a lot of unique builds in this game. This game is frequently updated with new content, keeping it fresh and exciting.
Each season brings with it a new league, where players start from scratch and face ever-changing challenges unique to it. Whether it's going deep into an abandoned mine or planting corrupted seeds to cleanse the vegetation, each season brings a new experience that other games of this genre lack. Once you get stuck in, you will find yourself having a hard time stepping away from this game.
There is endless variety in the character-building process
4. Heroes of the Storm
If you love the MOBA genre but are looking for something different, this game offers a unique spin on it. Each map will give your team objectives to focus on while you battle it out against the enemy team. Teamwork is essential for success, as juggling objectives and winning battles are necessary. With all the thrills of a great MOBA but none of the complicated item building, all that's needed is picking hero abilities you feel are best suited for your situation.
While the development of this game has died down somewhat, the quality is undeniable. The flow of combat and map objectives makes every battle enjoyable, even when you are on the losing side. However, there are times when team compositions can completely overwhelm the opposing side just by the nature of how each hero functions.

5. Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms
Idle Champions is a clicker game with plenty of depth. With great emphasis placed on the formation of your team, some characters perform better in certain positions than others. You will have plenty to do as the game frequently runs events, allowing for unique unlocks. It's a great game to play when you don't have much time but are looking for something you can play on a more casual note.
It has elements of an ARPG where you can find gear for characters in your party and level them up to unlock abilities and upgrades. The game has campaigns for you to play through where enemies and formations will be changed accordingly, giving you more of a challenge while providing you with even greater rewards.
